Fate of Discrete Time Crystals in Finite-Size Cavity QED Systems
Haimi Nguyen, D. Reichman · 2026 · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

It has been shown that Discrete Time Crystal (DTC) behavior may arise in the periodically driven, open Dicke model in the thermodynamic limit ($N \rightarrow \infty$). In this work, we demonstrate that finite $N$ non-mean-field fluctuations in this model can lead to decay rates and amplitudes of transient DTCs that display a non-trivial non-monotonic behavior with an increasing number of atoms. We show that the second-order cumulant expansion fails to capture the finite-size dynamics, while a stochastic version of the Truncated Wigner Approximation (TWA) is remarkably accurate, particularly in the large atom ensemble limit. Using the TWA and the Monte Carlo Wave Function (MCWF) approach, we …

Continuous time quasi-crystal and its transition to continuous time crystal in coupled Rydberg atomic chains
    Wei-Lun Jiang · 2026 · Chinese Physics B · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

We investigate the nonlinear dynamics of two coupled driven–dissipative Rydberg atomic chains, each of which formed a previously reported continuous time crystal phase. By tuning the inter-chain interaction, the two time-crystalline subsystems with distinct intrinsic oscillation frequencies will naturally mix, and support luxuriant stable and collective oscillatory behavior. We identify a dynamical phase characterized by quasi-periodic oscillations with multiple incommensurate frequencies, corresponding to a continuous-time quasi-crystalline order. In addition, we identify a phase transition from a time quasi-crystalline phase to a time-crystalline phase at sufficiently strong inter-chain co…

Dissipation accelerates quantum and classical simulation of open-system dynamics
Armando Angrisani, Ricard Puig, Y. Teng et al. · 2026 · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

Simulating open quantum systems reveals how environmental coupling shapes relaxation, excitation transport, and the dynamics of quantum correlations. On quantum hardware, dissipative channels add operations and might seem to increase cost. However, we show that a broad class of Pauli noise, including depolarization, can ease quantum and classical simulation by exponentially suppressing high-weight components of Heisenberg-evolved observables. For bounded-degree Lindblad dynamics, this permits system-size-independent Trotter steps when estimating local observables. Combining this compression with Richardson extrapolation, we provide classical and quantum error bounds with respect to the 2-nor…

Predictive simulations of the dynamical response of mesoscopic devices
Samuel Boutin, Torsten Karzig, Tareq El Dandachi et al. · 2025 · Mesoscale and Nanoscale Physics · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

As the complexity of mesoscopic quantum devices increases, simulations are becoming an invaluable tool for understanding their behavior. This is especially true for the superconductor-semiconductor heterostructures used to build Majorana-based topological qubits, where quantitatively understanding the interplay of topological superconductivity, disorder, semiconductor quantum dots, Coulomb blockade and noise has been essential for progress on device design and interpretation of measurements. In this paper, we describe a general framework to simulate the low-energy quantum dynamics of such complex systems. We illustrate our approach by computing the dispersive gate sensing (DGS) response of q…

Universal logic gates for coupled period-doubling systems
    U. EmmanuelD.G., Roy D. Jara, Jayson G. Cosme · 2026 · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

We propose a general architecture for universal logic operations using NAND and NOR gates on classical information encoded in period-doubled states of periodically-driven systems. The protocol involves applying a single pulse that simultaneously couple two input nodes with an output node. We show that the states of the nodes can be precisely controlled by tuning the coupling strength and pulse duration, allowing for robust logic gate operation. To highlight the universality of the protocol, we demonstrate its applicability on different systems, such as classical networks of dissi- pative parametric oscillators (DPO), quantum networks of Kerr parametric oscillators (KPO), and the periodically…

Quantum phase synchronization and non-Markovian relaxation dynamics of a driven two-level system in a hierarchical environment
Yan-Ling Li, Du-Song Huang, Xing Xiao · 2026 · Physica Scripta · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

We investigate forced quantum phase synchronization and transient relaxation dynamics of a driven two-level system (TLS) coupled to a hierarchical structured environment arranged in a wheel-graph, where a primary cavity directly couples to the TLS and interacts uniformly with a closed ring of N nearest-neighbor-coupled auxiliary cavities. Employing the dressed-state secular representation and conditional non-Hermitian Hamiltonian in the dressed-state subspace, we characterize the phase-locking behavior using the Husimi Q-function and the synchronization measure S. In the steady-state regime, the TLS exhibits anti-phase locking relative to the coherent drive, governed by the dynamic competiti…

Learning Noise via Dynamical Decoupling of Entangled Qubits
Trevor McCourt, Charles Neill, Kenny Lee et al. · 2022 · Quantum Physics · AI summary available
    Abstract

Noise in entangled quantum systems is difficult to characterize due to many-body effects involving multiple degrees of freedom. This noise poses a challenge to quantum computing, where two-qubit gate performance is critical. Here, we develop and apply multi-qubit dynamical decoupling sequences that characterize noise that occurs during two-qubit gates. In our superconducting system comprised of Transmon qubits with tunable couplers, we observe noise that is consistent with flux fluctuations in the coupler that simultaneously affects both qubits and induces noise in their entangling parameter. The effect of this noise on the qubits is very different from the well-studied single-qubit dephasin…

Exact solutions of non-Markovian dissipative Ising models
Mohammad Maghrebi · 2026 · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

Applications of quantum devices and simulators require an accurate understanding of their dynamics as well as the effects of environmental noise. While some sources of noise can be modeled as Markovian dissipation, coupling to resonators or vibrational modes often produces non-Markovian dynamics as well, making it difficult to characterize the system, particularly for interacting many-body systems. Here, we identify a broad class of exactly solvable many-body quantum systems with both non-Markovian dynamics and Markovian dissipation. We consider a prototypical model of spins coupled to lossy bosonic modes that mediate Ising-type interactions. We exclude a transverse field but allow local spi…

Eigen-SNAP gate for photonic qubits in a cavity-transmon system
    M. Meschede, L. Mathey · 2025 · Physical Review Research · Not summarized yet
    Abstract

In the pursuit of robust quantum computing, we put forth a platform based on photonic qubits in a circuit-QED environment. Specifically, we propose a versatile two-qubit gate based on two cavities coupled via a transmon, constituting a selective number-dependent phase gate operating on the in-phase eigenmodes of the two cavities, the Eigen-SNAP gate. This gate natively operates in the dispersive coupling regime of the cavities and the transmon, and operates by driving the transmon externally, to imprint desired phases on the number states. As an example for the utility of the Eigen-SNAP gate, we implement a $\sqrt{\text{SWAP}}$ gate on a system of two logical bosonic qubits encoded in the ca…

How are these papers found?

We compare the title and abstract of this paper with those of every paper summarized on this site, and with the papers Semantic Scholar recommends, those it cites and those citing it (for a much-cited paper, its most recent citations and, from OpenAlex, the most cited ones). Among the prior work and the follow-ups, the papers that use each other in depth, a method it uses and the much-cited follow-ups come a little higher. The levels (very close, close, related) come from the similarity of the texts, not from a judgment of quality; * marks a paper without an abstract, compared by its title. The sentence under a paper is written by an AI from the two abstracts: check it in the papers. A paper marked not relevant by three readers leaves the list.
