In this study, we investigate the phenomenon of parton energy loss in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) through a measurement of photon-tagged jet production. We analyze data collected by the ATLAS detector from lead-lead (Pb+Pb) and proton-proton ($pp$) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV. Our focus is on events containing an isolated photon with transverse momentum ($p_\mathrm{T}$) exceeding $50$ GeV and the distribution of jet $p_\mathrm{T}$. This selection criteria results in a sample of jets primarily initiated by quark showering, leading to a steeply falling $p_\mathrm{T}$ distribution. From our measurements in $pp$ and Pb+Pb collisions, we calculate the nuclear modification factor, $R_\mathrm{AA}$, and the fractional energy loss, $S_\mathrm{loss}$, for photon-tagged jets. We also compare these values with those obtained from inclusive jets with a lower fraction initiated by quarks. The results show significant differences between photon-tagged jets and inclusive jets in terms of $R_\mathrm{AA}$ and $S_\mathrm{loss}$ values, indicating that color charge plays a crucial role in parton energy loss in QGP. Additionally, we compare our experimental findings with theoretical models incorporating color-charge-dependent energy loss. The analysis spans 42 pages and includes detailed figures and auxiliary information for reference. Overall, this research sheds light on the intricate dynamics of parton energy loss in QGP and highlights the importance of considering color charge when studying such phenomena.
