Evidence of partonic collectivity in OO collisions through the measurement of $φ$, K$^0_{\rm S}$, and $Λ$ elliptic flow
L’essentiel
Question
In both centrality classes, the separation between ${\rm K}^{0}_{\rm{S}}$ and $\Lambda$ exceeds $10\sigma$, while the difference between ${\rm K}^{0}_{\rm{S}}$ and $\phi$ exceeds $5\sigma$, demonstrating that the observed mass ordering is significant.
-
In both centrality classes, the baryon–meson splitting of $v_{2}$ above 3 GeV/$c$ is quantified by separations exceeding $10\sigma$ between $\Lambda$ and ${\rm K}^{0}_{\rm{S}}$, and more than $5\sigma$ between $\Lambda$ and $\phi$.
-
In this context, the observation that the $\phi$ meson exhibits $v_{2}$ values comparable to those of the substantially lighter ${\rm K}^{0}_{\rm{S}}$ meson, rather than to those of the similarly massive $\Lambda$ baryon, provides a model-independent qualitative indication that the intermediate-$p_{\rm T}$ ordering of identified-hadron $v_{2}$ is not governed by hadron mass alone.
-
This grouping of meson flow constitutes a substantial result in small collision systems that disfavors a purely mass-driven interpretation of the observed patterns and instead supports hadronization via quark recombination from a collectively flowing partonic medium.
-
The same qualitative features and ordering patterns are obtained using the forward-rapidity FT0C centrality estimator, indicating no significant dependence on the rapidity range of the centrality estimator.
Limites
The elliptic-flow coefficient of the POI is then obtained by assuming factorization of the residual two-particle correlation, after suppression of non-flow contributions through the $|\Delta\eta|>1.2$ requirement and the low-multiplicity template fit, into single-particle flow coefficients

Elliptic flow of identified hadrons in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=7.7–62.4 GeVL.
Measurements of the elliptic flow, v 2 , of identified hadrons (π ± , K ± , Ks0, p, p, φ, Λ, Λ, Ξ - , Ξ + , Ω - , Ω + ) in Au+Au collisions at √s NN =7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, and 62.4 GeV are presented. The measurements were done at midrapidity using the time-projection chamber and the time-of-flight detectors of the Solenoidal Tracker at RHIC experiment during the beam-energy scan program at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. A significant difference in the v 2 values for particles and the corresponding antiparticles was observed at all transverse momenta for the first time. The difference increases with decreasing center-of-mass energy, √s NN (or increasing baryon chemical potential, μ B ), …

Investigations of anisotropic flow using multi-particle azimuthal correlations in pp, p-Pb, Xe-Xe, and Pb-Pb collisions at the LHCALICE Collaboration · 2019 · Phys. Rev. Lett.
Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients ($v_n$) and their cross-correlations using two- and multi-particle cumulant methods are reported in collisions of pp at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV, p-Pb at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}} = 5.02$ TeV, Xe-Xe at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}} = 5.44$ TeV, and Pb-Pb at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}} = 5.02$ TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. These measurements are performed as a function of multiplicity in the mid-rapidity region $|\eta|<0.8$ for the transverse momentum range $0.2 < p_{\rm T} < 3.0$ GeV/$c$. An ordering of the coefficients $v_2 > v_3 > v_4$ is found in pp and p-Pb collisions, similar to that seen in large collision systems, while a weak $v_2$ multiplicity dependen…

Evidence for the collective nature of radial flow in Pb+Pb collisions with the ATLAS detectorATLAS Collaboration · 2025 · Nuclear Experiment · cité 25 fois · Résumé IA disponible
Anisotropic flow and radial flow are two key probes of the expansion dynamics and properties of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). While anisotropic flow has been extensively studied, radial flow, which governs the system's radial expansion, has received less attention. Notably, experimental evidence for the global and collective nature of radial flow has been lacking. This Letter presents the first measurement of transverse momentum ($p_{\mathrm{T}}$) dependence of radial flow fluctuations ($v_0(p_{\mathrm{T}})$) over $0.5<p_{\mathrm{T}}<10$ GeV, using a two-particle correlation method in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.02$ TeV. The data reveal three key features supporting the col…

Evidence of Nuclear Geometry-Driven Anisotropic Flow in O+O and Ne+Ne Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.36 TeV.Alice Collaboration · 2025 · Physical Review Letters · cité 36 fois · Pas encore résumé
A central question in strong-interaction physics, governed by quantum chromodynamics (QCD), is whether femtoscale droplets of quark-gluon plasma form in small collision systems involving projectiles significantly smaller than heavy ions. Collisions of light ions such as ^{16}O and ^{20}Ne offer a unique opportunity to probe the emergence of collective behavior in QCD matter. This Letter presents the first measurements of the elliptic (v_{2}) and triangular (v_{3}) flow of charged particles in ^{16}O-^{16}O and ^{20}Ne-^{20}Ne collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.36 TeV with the ALICE detector. The hydrodynamic model predictions, explicitly incorporating th…

Anisotropic Flow of Charged Particles in Pb-Pb Collisions at √[s{NN}]=5.02 TeV.J.
We report the first results of elliptic (v_{2}), triangular (v_{3}), and quadrangular (v_{4}) flow of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurements are performed in the central pseudorapidity region |η|<0.8 and for the transverse momentum range 0.2<p_{T}<5 GeV/c. The anisotropic flow is measured using two-particle correlations with a pseudorapidity gap greater than one unit and with the multiparticle cumulant method. Compared to results from Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV, the anisotropic flow coefficients v_{2}, v_{3}, and v_{4} are found to inc…

Higher harmonic anisotropic flow measurements of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(s(NN)) = 2.76 TeV.K.
We report on the first measurement of the triangular v3, quadrangular v4, and pentagonal v5 charged particle flow in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(s(NN)) = 2.76 TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. We show that the triangular flow can be described in terms of the initial spatial anisotropy and its fluctuations, which provides strong constraints on its origin. In the most central events, where the elliptic flow v2 and v3 have similar magnitude, a double peaked structure in the two-particle azimuthal correlations is observed, which is often interpreted as a Mach cone response to fast partons. We show that this structure can be naturally explained from the measured…

Investigation of possible hadronic flow in $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV $p-Pb$ collisionsY.
Using the ultrarelativistic quantum molecular dynamics (UrQMD) model, we investigate azimuthal correlations in p-Pb collisions at sNN=5.02TeV. Comparison with the experimental data shows that UrQMD cannot reproduce the multiplicity dependence of two- and four-particle cumulants, especially the transition from positive to negative values of c2{4} in high-multiplicity events, which has been taken as experimental evidence of collectivity in p-Pb collisions. Meanwhile, UrQMD cannot describe the differential elliptic flow v2(pT) of all charged hadrons at various multiplicity classes. These discrepancies show that the simulated hadronic p-Pb systems cannot generate enough collective flow as observ…

Elliptic flow at large transverse momenta from quark coalescence.D.
We show that hadronization via quark coalescence enhances hadron elliptic flow at large p(perpendicular) relative to that of partons at the same transverse momentum. Therefore, compared to earlier results based on covariant parton transport theory, more moderate initial parton densities dN/deta(b=0) approximately 1500-3000 can explain the differential elliptic flow v(2)(p(perpendicular)) data for Au+Au reactions at sqrt[s]=130 and 200A GeV from BNL RHIC. In addition, v(2)(p(perpendicular)) could saturate at about 50% higher values for baryons than for mesons. If strange quarks have weaker flow than light quarks, hadron v(2) at high p(perpendicular) decreases with relative strangeness content…

Particle-type dependence of azimuthal anisotropy and nuclear modification of particle production in Au+Au collisions at s(NN)**(1/2) = 200-GeVStar Collaboration · 2003 · cité 103 fois · Pas encore résumé
We present STAR measurements of the azimuthal anisotropy parameter $v_2$ and the binary-collision scaled centrality ratio $R_{CP}$ for kaons and lambdas ($\Lambda+\bar{\Lambda}$) at mid-rapidity in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. In combination, the $v_2$ and $R_{CP}$ particle-type dependencies contradict expectations from partonic energy loss followed by standard fragmentation in vacuum. We establish $p_T \approx 5$ GeV/c as the value where the centrality dependent baryon enhancement ends. The $K_S^0$ and $\Lambda+\bar{\Lambda}$ $v_2$ values are consistent with expectations of constituent-quark-number scaling from models of hadron fromation by parton coalescence or recombina…

A Decade of Collectivity in Small SystemsJ.
Signatures of collectivity, including azimuthally anisotropic and radial flow as well as characteristic hadrochemical dependencies, have been observed since long in (ultra)relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions. They underpin the interpretation of these collision systems in terms of QGP formation and close-to-perfect fluidity. Remarkably, however, essentially all these signatures of collectivity have been identified within the last decade in collision systems as small as pp and p-Pb, where collective phenomena had been assumed to be absent traditionally. Precursor phenomena may have been found even in ep and $e^+e^-$ collisions. This article provides a complete review of all data on small s…

Résumé scientifique
Abstract In this paper, we investigate the hydrodynamic collectivity in proton–proton (p–p) collisions at 13 TeV, using iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model with HIJING initial conditions. With properly tuned parameters, our model simulations can remarkably describe all the measured 2-particle correlations, including integrated and differential elliptic flow coefficients for all charged and identified hadrons ( K S 0 , Λ). However, our model calculations show positive 4-particle cumulant c 2 { 4 } in high multiplicity pp collisions, and can not reproduce the negative c 2 { 4 } measured in experiment. Further investigations on the HIJING initial conditions show that the fluctuations of the second order a…

Measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy for charged particle production in √ sNN = 2.76 TeV lead-lead collisions with the ATLAS detectorA.
Differential measurements of charged particle azimuthal anisotropy are presented for lead-lead collisions at root sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, based on an integrated luminosity of approximately 8 mu b(-1). This anisotropy is characterized via a Fourier expansion of the distribution of charged particles in azimuthal angle relative to the reaction plane, with the coefficients v(n) denoting the magnitude of the anisotropy. Significant v(2)-v(6) values are obtained as a function of transverse momentum (0.5 = 3 are found to vary weakly with both eta and centrality, and their p(T) dependencies are found to follow an approximate scaling relation, v(n)(1/n)(p(T)) proportional t…
