Decoding Neutron Star Observations: Revealing Composition through Bayesian Neural NetworksValéria Carvalho, Márcio Ferreira, Tuhin Malik et al. · 2023 · Physique nucléaire théorique · Pas encore résumé
Résumé scientifique
We exploit the great potential offered by Bayesian Neural Networks (BNNs) to directly decipher the internal composition of neutron stars (NSs) based on their macroscopic properties. By analyzing a set of simulated observations, namely NS radius and tidal deformability, we leverage BNNs as effective tools for inferring the proton fraction and sound speed within NS interiors. To achieve this, several BNNs models were developed upon a dataset of $\sim$ 25K nuclear EoS within a relativistic mean-field framework, obtained through Bayesian inference that adheres to minimal low-density constraints. Unlike conventional neural networks, BNNs possess an exceptional quality: they provide a prediction u…

Probing Nuclear Structure of Heavy Ions at the Large Hadron ColliderHeikki Mäntysaari, Björn Schenke, Chun Shen et al. · 2024 · Physique nucléaire théorique · Résumé IA disponible
Résumé scientifique
We perform high-statistics simulations to study the impacts of nuclear structure on the ratios of anisotropic flow observables in $^{208}$Pb+$^{208}$Pb and $^{129}$Xe+$^{129}$Xe collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. Even with $40\%$ difference in atomic numbers between $^{208}$Pb and $^{129}$Xe nuclei, the ratios of anisotropic flow in the same centrality class between the two collision systems are strongly affected by the nuclear structure inputs in the initial state. The ratios of $v_2\{4\}/v_2\{2\}$ in these collisions are sensitive to the nuclear skin thickness of the colliding nuclei, providing indirect constraints on the nuclei's neutron skin. Our model predictions serve as a benchm…

Nuclear matrix elements of double beta decay from beta decayJouni Suhonen · 2004 · Phys.Lett. B607 (2005) 87-95 · Résumé IA disponible
Résumé scientifique
The evaluation of the nuclear matrix elements (NME) of the two-neutrino double beta ($2νββ$) decay and neutrinoless double beta ($0νββ$) decay using the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) is addressed. In particular, the extraction of a proper value of the proton-neutron particle-particle interaction parameter, $g_{\rm pp}$, of this theory is analyzed in detail. Evidence is shown, that it can be misleading to use the experimental half-life of the $2νββ$ decay to extract a value for $g_{\rm pp}$. Rather, arguments are given in favour of using the available data on single beta decay for this purpose.

Models for photo- and electro-production of K^+ in view of new dataP. Bydzovsky, F. Cusanno, S. Frullani et al. · 2003 · Physique nucléaire théorique · Pas encore résumé
Résumé scientifique
Predictions of isobaric and Regge models are compared with the latest experimental data (Bonn,JLab) to select among the models those providing a satisfactory description of the data. Only the Saclay-Lyon and MAID models are in a reasonable agreement with both photo- and electro-production data ranging up to about 2.5 GeV.

IMSRG-Net: A machine learning-based solver for In-Medium Similarity Renormalization GroupSota Yoshida · 2023 · Physique nucléaire théorique · Résumé IA disponible
Résumé scientifique
We present a novel method, IMSRG-Net, which utilizes machine learning techniques as a solver for the in-medium Similarity Renormalization Group (IMSRG). The primary objective of IMSRG-Net is to approximate the Magnus operators $\Omega(s)$ in the IMSRG flow equation, thereby offering an alternative to the computationally intensive part of IMSRG calculations. The key idea of IMSRG-Net is its design of the loss function inspired by physics-informed neural networks to encode the underlying {\it physics}, i.e., IMSRG flow equation, into the model. Through training on a dataset comprising ten data points with flow parameters up to $s = 20$, capturing approximately one-eighth to one-quarter of the …

Parameterization of the Woods-Saxon Potential for Shell-Model CalculationsN. Schwierz, I. Wiedenhover, A. Volya · 2007 · Physique nucléaire théorique · Résumé IA disponible
Résumé scientifique
The drastically expanded use of the Woods-Saxon potential in modern day nuclear physics and the availability of new nuclear data motivated us to review and optimize the parameters of this potential to the experimental single-nucleon spectra around the doubly-magic nuclei between $^{16}$O and $^{208}$Pb. We obtain a parameterization which is applicable over the whole nuclear chart for nuclides between $^{16}$O and the heaviest elements. Apart from Coulomb components the obtained parameter set is isospin symmetric. We demonstrate that the potential provides a good description of the nuclear mean field leading to quality single-particle spectra, nuclear radii, prediction of drip-lines, shell cl…

Electromagnetic isoscalar rho-pi-gamma exchange current and the anomalous actionE. Truhlik, J. Smejkal, F. C. Khanna · 2000 · Nucl.Phys. A689 (2001) 741-752 · Pas encore résumé
Résumé scientifique
Using modern data, we first refit constants needed to complete an anomalous pi-rho-omega-a_1 Lagrangian obtained within the approach of hidden local symmetries. Then we derive from this Lagrangian electromagnetic isoscalar rho-pi-gamma and rho-a_1-gamma currents needed in calculations of the deuteron electromagnetic form factors at large momentum transfers.
