Investigating the young Solar System analog HD95086
    G. Chauvin, R. Gratton, M. Bonnefoy et al. · 2018 · Astrophysique terrestre et planétaire · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

HD95086 (A8V, 17Myr) hosts a rare planetary system for which a multi-belt debris disk and a giant planet of 4-5MJup have been directly imaged. Our study aims to characterize the physical and orbital properties of HD95086b, search for additional planets at short and wide orbits and image the cold outer debris belt in scattered light. We used HARPS at the ESO 3.6m telescope to monitor the radial velocity of HD95086 over 2 years and investigate the existence of giant planets at less than 3au orbital distance. With the IRDIS dual-band imager and the IFS integral field spectrograph of SPHERE at VLT, we imaged the faint circumstellar environment beyond 10au at six epochs between 2015 and 2017. We …

The REASONS Survey: Resolved Millimeter Observations of a Large Debris Disk Around the Nearby F Star HD 170773
Aldo G. Sepulveda, Luca Matra, Grant M. Kennedy et al. · 2019 · The Astrophysical Journal, 881, 84 (2019) · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

Debris disks are extrasolar analogs to our own Kuiper Belt and they are detected around at least 17% of nearby Sun-like stars. The morphology and dynamics of a disk encode information about its history, as well as that of any exoplanets within the system. We used ALMA to obtain 1.3 mm observations of the debris disk around the nearby F5V star HD 170773. We image the face-on ring and determine its fundamental parameters by forward-modeling the interferometric visibilities through a Markov Chain Monte Carlo approach. Using a symmetric Gaussian surface density profile, we find a 71 $\pm$ 4 au wide belt with a radius of 193$^{+2}_{-3}$ au, a relatively large radius compared to most other millime…

An icy Kuiper-Belt around the young solar-type star HD 181327
    J. Lebreton, J. -C. Augereau, W. -F. Thi et al. · 2011 · Astrophysique terrestre et planétaire · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

HD 181327 is a young F5/F6V star belonging to the Beta Pictoris moving group (12 Myr). It harbors an optically thin belt of circumstellar material at 90 AU. We aim to study the dust properties in the belt in details, and to constrain the gas-to-dust ratio. We obtained far-IR observations with the Herschel/PACS instrument, and 3.2 mm observations with the ATCA array. The geometry of the belt is constrained with newly reduced HST/NICMOS images that break the degeneracy between the disk geometry and the dust properties. We use the radiative transfer code GRaTer to compute a large grid of models, and we identify the grain models that best reproduce the Spectral Energy Distribution through a Baye…

Hot exozodiacal dust: an exocometary origin?
    Élie Sezestre, Jean-Charles Augereau, Philippe Thébault · 2019 · A&A 626, A2 (2019) · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

We aim to explore two exozodiacal dust production mechanisms, first re-investigating the Poynting-Robertson drag pile-up scenario, and then elaborating on the less explored, but promising exocometary dust delivery scenario. We developped a new versatile, numerical model that calculates the dust dynamics, with non orbit-averaged equations for the grains close to the star. The model includes dust sublimation and incorporates a radiative transfer code for direct comparison to the observations. We consider in this study four stellar types, three dust compositions, and we assume a parent belt at 50 au. We find that, in the case of the Poynting-Robertson drag pile-up scenario, it is impossible to …

Has the dust clump in the debris disk of Beta Pictoris moved?
    Yinuo Han, Mark C. Wyatt, William R. F. Dent · 2023 · MNRAS 519(3), 3257-3270 (2023) · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

The edge-on debris disk of the nearby young star Beta Pictoris shows an unusual brightness asymmetry in the form of a clump. The clump has been detected in both the mid-IR and CO and its origin has so far remained uncertain. Here we present new mid-IR observations of Beta Pic to track any motion of the dust clump. Together with previous observations, the data span a period of 12 years. We measured any projected displacement of the dust clump over the 12-yr period to be $0.2^{+1.3}_{-1.4}$ au away from the star based on the median and 1$\sigma$ uncertainty, and constrain this displacement to be <11 au at the 3$\sigma$ level. This implies that the observed motion is incompatible with Keplerian…

JWST/NIRCam Coronagraphic Search for Hidden Planets in the HD~163296 Protoplanetary Disk
Taichi Uyama, Luca Ricci, Marie Ygouf et al. · 2025 · Astrophysique terrestre et planétaire · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

HD~163296 is a Herbig Ae/Be star with multiple signposts of on-going planet formation on its disk, such as prominent rings and gaps, as well as kinematic features as identified by previous ALMA observations. We carried out JWST/NIRCam coronagraphic imaging using the F410M and F200W NIRCam filters, with the goal of detecting the emission from the putative young planets in this system. Our F410M observations did not detect the putative planets at the predicted locations of the ALMA velocity kinks, but detected a point-like source candidate at a separation of $\approx0\farcs75$ and a position angle of $\approx231\fdg4$ that is unlikely a background star because of the measured flux in the F410M…

    LHS 475 b: A Venus-sized Planet Orbiting a Nearby M Dwarf
Kristo Ment, David Charbonneau, Jonathan Irwin et al. · 2023 · Astrophysique terrestre et planétaire · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

Based on photometric observations by TESS, we present the discovery of a Venus-sized planet transiting LHS 475, an M3 dwarf located 12.5 pc from the Sun. The mass of the star is $0.274 \pm 0.015~\rm{M_{Sun}}$. The planet, originally reported as TOI 910.01, has an orbital period of $2.0291025 \pm 0.0000020$ days and an estimated radius of $0.955 \pm 0.053~\rm{R_{Earth}}$. We confirm the validity and source of the transit signal with MEarth ground-based follow-up photometry of five individual transits. We present radial velocity data from CHIRON that rule out massive companions. In accordance with the observed mass-radius distribution of exoplanets as well as planet formation theory, we expect…

Starspots on WASP-107 and pulsations of WASP-118
    T. Močnik, C. Hellier, D. R. Anderson et al. · 2017 · Astrophysique terrestre et planétaire · Résumé IA disponible
    Résumé scientifique

By analysing the K2 short-cadence photometry we detect starspot occultation events in the lightcurve of WASP-107, the host star of a warm-Saturn exoplanet. WASP-107 also shows a rotational modulation with a period of 17.5 +/- 1.4 d. Given that the rotational period is nearly three times the planet's orbital period, one would expect in an aligned system to see starspot occultation events to recur every three transits. The absence of such occultation recurrences suggests a misaligned orbit unless the starspots' lifetimes are shorter than the star's rotational period. We also find stellar variability resembling gamma Doradus pulsations in the lightcurve of WASP-118, which hosts an inflated hot …
