In the presented study Parent/Teacher Disruptive Behavior Disorder (DBD) rating scale based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR [APA, 2000]) which was developed by Pelham and his colleagues (Pelham et al., 1992) was translated and adopted for assessment of childhood behavioral abnormalities, especially ADHD, ODD and CD in Georgian children and adolescents. The DBD rating scale was translated into Georgian language using back translation technique by English language philologists and checked and corrected by qualified psychologists and psychiatrist of Georgia. Children and adolescents in the age range of 6 to 16 years (N 290; Mean Age 10.50, SD=2.88) including 153 males (Mean Age 10.42, SD= 2.62) and 141 females (Mean Age 10.60, SD=3.14) were recruited from different public schools of Tbilisi and the Neurology Department of the Pediatric Clinic of the Tbilisi State Medical University. Participants objectively were assessed via interviewing parents/teachers and qualified psychologists in three different settings including school, home and clinic. In terms of DBD total scores revealed statistically significant differences between healthy controls (M=27.71, SD=17.26) and children and adolescents with ADHD (M=61.51, SD= 22.79). Statistically significant differences were found for inattentive subtype between control (M=8.68, SD=5.68) and ADHD (M=18.15, SD=6.57) groups. In general it was shown that children and adolescents with ADHD had high score on DBD in comparison to typically developed persons. In the study also was determined gender wise prevalence in children and adolescents with ADHD, ODD and CD. The research revealed prevalence of males in comparison with females in all investigated categories.

Background: DBD cause disadvantageous outcomes for adolescents in terms of educational achievement, peer and social relations, and family relations, which hamper their potential to go on a productive life. Objectives: To translate the Parent/ Teacher Disruptive Behaviour Disorder (P/T DBD) Rating Scale (Pelham et al, 1992) to the Sinhalese language and to assess the construct validity of the translated version among adolescents aged 11 to 17 years.Method: The Translation / back translation method was used to translate the English DBD Rating Scale into Sinhalese. This scale is a multi-dimensional scale covering Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM) 4th version criteria for the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder (CD). Primary caregivers of adolescents aged 11 to 17 living in the medical officer of health area of Hambantota were introduced to the P/T DBD Rating Scale –Sinhala. Factor analysis was carried out using SPSS version 20.0.Results/ conclusions: Four-factor extractions accounted for 36.8% of the variance, whereas 12-factor extractions explained 64% of the variance in the data set. Maximum variance was explained by Factor 1 consisted of all the items in ADHD- ADHD-Hyperactivity and ODD scales. All the items in the ADHD- Inattention sub-scale were loaded into Factor 2, which accounted for 6.4% of the variance of the total sample. Items in the CD subscale were loaded into Factors 3 and 4, which altogether accounted for 9.9% variance of the total data set.

OBJECTIVES: This study validated the Japanese version of the Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder-Rating Scale-5 (ADHD-RS-5) and the Disruptive Behavior Disorders Rating Scale. We extended the ADHD-RS-5 by adding the oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder subscales to compare the two rating scales psychometrically. METHODS: We examined the internal consistency, test-retest reliability, construct validity and criterion validity of the two rating scales in 135 Japanese outpatients aged 6-18 years. RESULTS: The internal consistency and test-retest reliability were good for all the subscales of the two rating scales except for the conduct disorder subscale of the ADHD-RS-5 extended. Good construct validity was revealed by expected correlational patterns between subscales from the two rating scales and the Children Behavior Checklist. The criterion validity was good for all the subscales of the two rating scales rated by parents, while teacher-ratings revealed substantially lower predictive ability for all the subscales. Agreement between parent- and teacher-ratings of the two rating scales was generally moderate and using predictive ratings alone of both ratings showed the best predictive ability among the integration methods examined. CONCLUSION: The two rating scales have sound psychometric properties and will aid in screening and severity assessment of externalizing disorders in Japanese clinical settings.

OBJECTIVE: Disruptive behavior disorder (DBD) adversely impacts children and adolescents. However, a comprehensive and cost-effective scale to assess DBD is lacking in Korea. Therefore, this study translated the Disruptive Behavior Disorders Rating Scale (DBDRS) into Korean and analyzed its psychometric properties. METHODS: Parents and primary caregivers of non-clinical (n=429) and clinical (n=28) children and adolescents aged 6-15 years were included in the analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted; further, concurrent validity and internal consistency were investigated using correlation analysis and Cronbach's alpha, respectively. Furthermore, discriminative capacity was estimated using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. RESULTS: The four-factor model of K-DBDRS showed good model fit indices and factor loadings, which supported the construct validity of the scale. Strong correlations between K-DBDRS and related measurements were observed, and a robust level of Cronbach's alpha was confirmed (0.891-0.933). The discriminative capacity of the scale was good, based on the area under the curve values (0.933-0.953). CONCLUSION: This study indicated that the K-DBDRS is an appropriate screening tool for Korean children and adolescents. Thus, this scale can be applied in clinical and community settings to identify children and adolescents with disruptive behavior disorders.

Plasma technology was used in palm oil liquid waste (POME) management research. Plasma discharge generated in a Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma reactor was utilized to decrease BOD content and pH in POME. The DBD plasma reactor, with spiral-rod configuration, used in this study has 50 windings. Charge carrier mobility was calculated based on the electrical characteristics of the reactor to determine its effect on the decrease in BOD and pH levels of the sample. The effect of the gas flow rate on pH and BOD was also determined on the 1 hour and 2 hours treated samples. The results showed that 1 hour irradiation with the gas flow rate of 1.5 L/min resulted in pH of 9 and BOD of 180.30 mg/L, decrease from control sample having BOD of 342.86 mg/L and pH of 11, this is the most effective decrease compared to that obtained from 2 hours irradiation and 1.5 L/min flow rate. The results obtained approached the value permitted by the environmental ministerial regulation of 2005, concerning to Quality Standards of Domestic Wastewater. These results suggest that plasma technology is potential for the management of POME.

Abstract Rice seeds (Oryza sativa L.) have been treated with cold atmospheric plasma in air both directly in a dielectric barrier discharge and indirectly by gliding arc discharge with plasma activated mist. Comparisons of impacts of the two methods on rice seeds germination and physiological parameters are presented. Plasma has been found to increase seeds hydrophilization and water uptake through decrease of liquid contact angle and increase of total surface free energy of seed’s coat. Germination of treated seeds and their seedling growth parameters are enhanced by plasma application. After 20 min of seeds direct and indirect exposures respectively, germination potential increases by 36.73 and 50.4%, germination rate by 26.0 and 30.0%, and germination index by 25.92 and 36.53%. Also, total shoot length increases by 42.2 and 48.5%, and total root length by 15.93 and 22.42%. Plasma enhances physiological changes by increasing nonenzymatic antioxidants substances which in turn increase the tolerance against abiotic stresses. After 20 min for direct and indirect exposures respectively, free proline increases by 30.0 and 40.0%, total soluble carbohydrates by 49.7 and 54.6%. Also, cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) increase by 52.0 and 60.0%, and malondialdehyde (MDA) decreases by 68.0 and 88.0%. Indirect exposure of rice seeds by plasma activated mist shows enhanced effects on germination and physiological parameters compared to direct one and could be more practical when applied to large scale seeds plasma treatment.

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable and environmentally sustainable material, although its ability for dyeing is limited, especially with natural dyes. This study examined the application of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma in atmospheric conditions to enhance the surface features of PLA fabrics without using wetting agents. Experiments utilized the response surface methodology (RSM) analysis for determining the proper condition, including power and plasma exposure time. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis revealed an increase in the O/C ratio from ~0.42 to ~0.59 after 30 s of plasma exposure, while field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) images expressed the appearance of nanoscale roughness over the entire fiber surface due to plasma etching. Furthermore, the water uptake increased about 2.5 times, indicating a change in the surface characteristics toward increased hydrophilicity. To analyze the dyeing performance, the Fickian model was used to evaluate the dye diffusion coefficient (D), along with calculating the color strength (K/S). It was found that relatively higher polar dyes like henna and lac exhibited significantly improved dye adhesion, while turmeric and annatto showed only minor changes. The washing fastness results supported this observation; henna and lac maintained stronger color adhesion after treatment, whereas turmeric and annatto showed only modest improvement. Mechanical property tests revealed a slight decrease in yarn strength with prolonged plasma treatment. In conclusion, the pretreatment of PLA fabric with DBD plasma is a clean, chemical-free, and effective method to enhance the dyeing properties of PLA fabric with natural dyes, especially those with relatively higher polarity, if exposure time is controlled within an appropriate range. HIGHLIGHTS Atmospheric DBD plasma unlocked the inert surface of PLA, resulting in functional sites that allow natural dyes to penetrate and bond without the use of mordants. The treatment achieved a balance between nanoscale etching and oxidation, reaching a critical activation point where hydrophilicity and mechanical strength coexist. This work bridges the gap between green processing and performance, providing a scalable route for naturally dyed biobased textiles with long-term color stability. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT
