Abstract: We review and compare some models of closed economic systems, which have been shown to describe the main features of the observed wealth distributions. Namely, the models introduced by Angle in 1983, by Bennati in 1988, by Chakraborti and Chakrabarti, and by Dragulescu and Yakovenko, in 2000, are considered. An analytical form for the corresponding equilibrium wealth distribution is proposed for some versions of these models. We suggest how these various models can be recast into a unique simple reformulation which easily lends itself to further generalizations.
