In the study titled "Stock mechanics: predicting recession in S&P500, DJIA, and NASDAQ," author Caglar Tuncay introduces a novel method for forecasting exchanges. By incorporating potential and kinetic energy into price analysis and considering their sum, Tuncay presents a unique approach to understanding market trends. The study also delves into the relationship between this method and power law principles, shedding light on the underlying dynamics of financial markets. Through empirical applications on prominent indices such as the S&P500, DJIA, and NASDAQ, Tuncay's method successfully predicts an impending recession in these major markets. This valuable insight can provide crucial information for investors and policymakers navigating volatile market conditions. Additionally, the study identifies an emerging market opportunity in the Istanbul Stock Exchange index ISE-100. By analyzing this index, Tuncay uncovers potential for continued growth and prosperity in this particular market segment. This finding emphasizes the importance of diversifying investment portfolios and exploring opportunities beyond traditional Western markets.

Abstract: An original method, assuming potential and kinetic energy for prices and conservation of their sum is developed for forecasting exchanges. Connections with power law are shown. Semiempirical applications on S&P500, DJIA, and NASDAQ predict a coming recession in them. An emerging market, Istanbul Stock Exchange index ISE-100 is found involving a potential to continue to rise.
