In this study, we present a detailed analysis of the magnetic field-induced disordered phase of the Kitaev quantum spin liquid candidate material $α$-RuCl$_3$. Utilizing comprehensive inelastic neutron spectroscopic maps, we investigate the spin excitation spectrum at various magnetic field strengths. Our observations reveal that for fields along in-plane high-symmetry directions, the spin excitation spectrum becomes gapped at and above 8~T. As the magnetic field strength increases, we observe a sharpening of excitation modes; however, these modes remain broader than experimental resolution even at 13.5~T. Furthermore, our analysis shows that the out-of-plane dispersion diminishes in the 7-10~T regime, indicating enhanced two-dimensional behavior as in-plane liquid correlations are established. In this regime, excitations exhibit broad and largely flat characteristics across all accessible energy-momenta. This behavior is inconsistent with a magnon-decay picture but aligns well with a continuum of fractionalized excitations. This continuum response may be accompanied by sharper modes of bound states of fractionalized excitations, which contribute to spectral broadening and field dependence. Overall, our results provide compelling evidence for the existence of fractionalized excitations in $α$-RuCl$_3$ under a magnetic field. The presence of these fractionalized excitations suggests a unique underlying physics in this material and sheds light on its complex magnetic properties. This study contributes valuable insights into the behavior of quantum spin liquids and opens up new avenues for further exploration in this intriguing area of condensed matter physics.
