This chapter explores the role of patent protection in algorithmic surveillance and whether ordre public exceptions from patentability should apply to such patents, due to their potential to enable human rights violations. It concludes that in most cases, it is undesirable to exclude algorithmic surveillance patents from patentability, as the patent system is ill-equipped to evaluate the impacts of the exploitation of such technologies. Furthermore, the disclosure of such patents has positive externalities from the societal perspective by opening the black box of surveillance for public scrutiny.

This study uses pre-trained LLMs to conduct thematic analysis to investigate disciplinary incidents involving engineers in Quebec, shedding light on critical gaps in engineering education. Through a comprehensive review of the disciplinary register of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)'s disciplinary register for 2010 to 2024, researchers from engineering education and human resources management in technological development laboratories conducted a thematic analysis of reported incidents to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement. The analysis aims to uncover the most common types of disciplinary incidents, underlying causes, and implications for the field in how engineering education addresses (or fails to address) these issues. Our findings identify recurring themes, analyze root causes, and offer recommendations for engineering educators and students to mitigate similar incidents. This research has implications for informing curriculum development, professional development, and performance evaluation, ultimately fostering a culture of professionalism and ethical responsibility in engineering. By providing empirical evidence of disciplinary incidents and their causes, this study contributes to evidence-based practices for engineering education and professional development, enhancing the engineering education community's understanding of professionalism and ethics.

We prove that there exists a generic polynomial for the group Sl2(3); it is the group with smallest order for which it was not known if a such polynom can exist.

Positronium decay rates are computed at the one-loop level, using convolution-type factorized amplitudes. The dynamics of this factorization is probed with dispersion relations, showing that unallowed approximations are usually made, and some ordre alpha^2 corrections missed. Further, we discuss the relevance of the Schrodinger wavefunction as the basis for perturbative calculations. Finally, we apply our formalism to the parapositronium two-photon decay.

We generalize the Stirling numbers of the first kind $s(a,k)$ to the case where $a$ may be an arbitrary real number. In particular, we study the case in which $a$ is an integer. There, we discover new combinatorial properties held by the classical Stirling numbers, and analogous properties held by the Stirling numbers $s(n,k)$ with $n$ a negative integer.
