Résumé : 10BASE5 is the original IEEE 802.3 Ethernet. 10BASE5 uses thick yellow coaxial cable with a 10-mm diameter. The cable is terminated with a 50-ohm 1-W resistor. One hundred stations maximum per segment are allowed. In Ethernet, a message must be long enough to reach the other end of the network before the transmitter stops transmitting. The minimum message length defines a maximum network length, which is called the collision domain . The session layer creates and maintains communication channels (sessions). Security and logging can be handled in the session layer. The network layer routes data from node to node in the network by opening and maintaining an appropriate path. It may also split large messages into smaller packets to be reassembled at the receiving end.
