Résumé : 5G is envisioned to become a stakeholder-driven, holistic ecosystem empowering diverse vertical industries. As a key new technology, network slicing can bring new business opportunities from vertical services and industries to mobile network operators, vendors, and vertical service providers. In this chapter, service-oriented radio access network (RAN) support of network slicing, with an introduction to RAN subsystem concepts, is discussed to provide strong incentives for service providers to use Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) networks. This chapter provides the main concept, key principles, and deployment scenarios, and identifies key enabling technologies that need to be further addressed during the following years.
