In this article, we provide an overview of research methods, applications, and software tools used in SNA along with a comprehensive literature review on the state-of-the-art. Additionally, we present a quantitative analysis of active research areas and application domains within SNA through a scientometric study.

Background

The structure of these networks can be analyzed using various mathematical models such as graph theory or social network analysis (SNA).
