Abstract: The paper presents the results of bibliometric analysis of publications that were co-written by authors affiliated with Ukrainian and Russian institutions in 2007-2016 according to Scopus. Results of the study show that Ukrainian and Russian scientists have not refused to carry out joint research in major international projects, but a decrease in the number of works, written by Ukrainian and Russian scientific institutions staff members in 2016, provides evidence on the threat and negative impact the Russian military intervention brings to cooperation in science. The findings are important for generating the science development programs in Ukraine.

The study conducted a bibliometric analysis of publications co-written by authors affiliated with Ukrainian and Russian institutions between 2007-2016, according to Scopus. The results showed that despite the Russian military intervention in Ukraine, Ukrainian and Russian scientists have not refused to carry out joint research in major international projects. However, there was a decrease in the number of works written by Ukrainian and Russian scientific institutions staff members in 2016, indicating the negative impact of the conflict on cooperation in science. The study also highlighted the importance of generating science development programs in Ukraine and conducting further research on factors that encourage Ukrainian researchers to work with international partners and sources of funding for joint research. Additionally, the study found that out of 7,840 documents co-authored by Ukrainian and Russian scholars during this period, only 3,631 were published by researchers from both countries' R&D institutions. The largest share of these joint works included researchers from the USA, France, Poland, Italy, and Great Britain.
