- Coastal regions are important for social, economic, and environmental well-being
- Sea level fluctuations can have severe consequences for coastal areas
- A study by Reza Ardakanian and Seyed Hamed Alemohammad examined the correlation between global warming and Caspian Sea level fluctuations
- The study used data from the Jason-1 satellite
- There is a high positive monthly correlation between temperature increases in coastal stations due to global warming and Caspian Sea levels across all stations
- The yearly correlation was negative; an increase in temperature led to a decrease in sea level
- Global warming may have significant implications for coastal regions and their ecosystems.

Abstract: Coastal regions have a high social, economical and environmental importance. Due to this importance the sea level fluctuations can have many bad consequences. In this research the correlation between the increasing trend of temperature in coastal stations due to Global Warming and the Caspian Sea level has been established. The Caspian Sea level data has been received from the Jason-1 satellite. It was resulted that the monthly correlation between the temperature and sea level is high and also positive and almost the same for all the stations. But the yearly correlation was negative. It means that the sea level has decreased by the increase in temperature.
