## Summary

The role of cloud, internet, and smart devices in next-generation computing is expected to be significant. The Internet of Things (IoT) will generate a wide range of information from various sources, which can be stored and processed in the cloud. Acting as an interface between the cloud and IoT, fogging enables IoT nodes (also known as fog nodes) to access the network within their range. To ensure secure communication among public nodes in the IoT, there is a need for an integrated framework that incorporates blockchain technology. This research explores a novel approach to integrating blockchain technology with fog and IoT networks to provide communication security for smart devices connected to the internet. The proposed framework was tested and implemented in an IoT network, yielding positive results. By recording transactions securely in a sequential manner, blockchain offers a promising solution to address communication security issues in the IoT. The study conducted by Tanweer Alam and Mohamed Benaida from the Faculty of Computer and Information Systems at Islamic University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia provides a comprehensive review, architecture, and evaluation of this integrated framework. Their findings contribute to advancing the field of next-generation computing by demonstrating how blockchain can enhance communication security in IoT networks.
